Our dreams are creative, and full of plot boiling twists and turns as we work out the stresses and joys of our lives on the canvas of imagination. Who among us has not wished to live the dream? I have chased my dreams like a dog chasing its tail, around and around in a glorious frenzy of joy and foolishness. They say this life is a divine comedy, and I am determined to have the last laugh.
Creativity need not die when we awake. My dreams live on in the stories of my life. I start with what fascinates me, and then tackle the harder task of telling a tale that captures the interest of others.
Creativity does not begin and end with the written word. It begins in dreams, and ends in actions. You start with an idea, and then chase it around and around and around until you have a story, a product, or an architecture that you can share with others before starting back again after that tail.
The key for me has been to find a spot outside myself that I can glance to upon each revolution, and fix on long enough to maintain my balance and sense of self while everything else keeps right on spinning. This whole world is a whirling dervish. What a ride!
